TungStuds

TungStuds® are sintered tungsten carbide studs with high resistance to abrasion and impact, applied by the process known as "Stud Welding" (electric short circuit gun). A layer of filler material is melted in order to bond the tungsten carbide in the shape of a stud used against wear, to the material to be protected.

TungStuds® are specially designed for frontline wear applications ranging from buckets and teeth on mining yard machines, to crusher hammer rotors, impact and wear bars, screw conveyors, ploughs (agriculture), drill bits, bucket wheels, etc.

Consult us about sizes, application methods and project development. We apply the material in the “field”.

Application Process:

TungStuds® are easily welded to any irregular surface, have low application, maintenance, repair and replacement costs, ensuring excellent equipment life with great cost-benefit.

1 - TungStuds® are applied to the surface of the material to be coated. A ceramic coating is used to protect the solder bath from oxidation.

2 - When electric current is applied, an electric arc is initiated.

3 - The electric arc causes the TungStuds® and the base material to bond together by diffusion.

4 - TungStuds® are immersed in the molten base material mass, remaining fixed.

5 - The two materials become completely joined.
