Packaging knife
Straight knife, made of Sintered Tungsten Carbide, developed for cutting food packaging in candy packaging machines. Ensures greater durability of the cutting edge and greater resistance to corrosion, also preventing food contamination.
When compared to VC tool steel knives, Sintered Tungsten Carbide knives showed a durability greater than 120 times, reducing sharpening intervals, less machine downtime and a better final cost.
In this specific case, conventional knives were changed every 8-hour shift, wasting 15 minutes with a loss of production of 6 bonbons/second. More than 1000 conventional units were sharpened every day.
With the knives developed with Tungsten Carbide, they started to change them at 40-day intervals.
Unit cost and sharpening of WC Tungstek knife is only 3 times higher than tool steel knives.
